Get to know us better:

We each answered the same 10 questions in hopes that you will get to know us a little bit better!

1. When did you start blogging?
Sam: I started Samantha Elizabeth about 4 years ago!
Jess: I've been blogging for 3 years, but started a river of joy in May 2013.
Wanda: I started The Watered Soul in Feb 2010.
Tami: Seminary Chic is my first attempt at blogging, I started in June of 2012.

2. Why did you start blogging?
Sam: I started blogging when my photography business started. I wanted a way for my followers and prospective clients to have a way to connect with me. I wanted them to see the real Samantha Elizabeth and get to know me more personally.
Jess: Before I started blogging, I wrote a guest post for a blog and got a good response from the readers. I decided I would love writing on my own blog. I originally had a fashion/DIY blog that evolved into more of a lifestyle blog. Now I have a strictly lifestyle blog about my adventures in the DR.
Wanda: I can’t really recall the exact day the name or the idea for blogging first came to mind. But the year was 2010 during a season of intense desert wandering. No I haven’t actually traipsed around a natural desert but I have spent years wandering around aimlessly in a spiritual desert. In the desert of life, I merely existed seeing little evidence of God’s presence. But it was there that I rediscovered his promise to provide life-giving water. Isaiah 55:11 says, The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. Blogging has been a way for me to capture and share my spiritual journey.
Tami:I felt God tugging at me early in 2012 and I kind of knew things were about to change. I applied to seminary and was accepted in the spring of 2012. It was about that time that I thought I might enjoy writing about my journey. I process information by writing so I thought the combination might work. I started the blog the summer before I started school. It seems to have morphed into a blog more about my life and my family than about school, but it is still primarily a way for me to process all that I am learning day in and day out.
3. What are your favorite things to blog about?
Sam: My favorite things to blog about is really life in general. I love to blog about my day to day activities, I blog about my photography, I blog recipes, DIY projects, and about life and the challenges that come with it. Most importantly I love to blog about my faith and share it with others.
Jess: My new blog is all about my adventures in mission work in the DR. I write about favorite bible passages, music I'm enjoying listening to and my life!
Wanda: I tend to focus on the three B’s: the Bible, books, and blogging from a faith perspective. I also enjoying sharing about various tools I discover that may be helpful to others.
Tami: I blog about my faith, my family and the lessons God is teaching us along the way. Follow my blog long enough and you get a pretty good glimpse into what is going on in my life, with the hope that there is a lesson in there that will apply to everyone.

4. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Sam: In my spare time I like to put my sweatpants on, throw my hair in a bun and relax on the couch with my husband and dog Gus :)
Jess: Travel! I'm blessed to be living in the Dominican Republic and have traveled to places including Italy, Greece, Belize, Guatemala, Mexico, and all over the USA. I also love creating art and photography. But my real passion lies in serving others.
Wanda: In my spare time I enjoy reading or tinkering behind the scenes of blogs.
Tami: Most of my spare time is spent reading, mainly for school, but also for fun! I also like to run (well, I’m still not convinced anybody LIKES to run, but I do try to do it a few times a week!)

5. What would be your ideal job?
Sam: My ideal job would be a chef on the Food Network or to own a store like Anthropologie!
Jess: I’d love to be a photojournalist for National Geographic!
Wanda: I have always thought I’d love to be a librarian since I’m big book lover.
Tami: My ideal job would be speaking and writing for a living ( like getting paid to do it)! My husband would really like that too!

6. Do you have a vision for what you would like to do in your life? A dream job or accomplishment you'd like to achieve?
Sam: My goal in life is to help others along the way. My vision is to be a friend, mentor, and companion to someone who may need it (and sometimes I need it!) I want to help others and find ways to encourage them in their dreams, goals and ambitions.
Jess: I'm taking a year off from school to do mission work in the Dominican Republic. I'd love to continue to serve others throughout my entire life. A goal of mine is to find a way to combine my passion for creating art with my passion for helping others.
Wanda: My ultimate dream would be to have a nonprofit organization that focuses on educating and empowering young adults in the area of financial literacy and career readiness.
Tami: I think being a truly devoted, Jesus loving, Christian woman in this day and age, in this culture, in this society, is incredibly hard. Whether you are single, married, divorced or widowed. Whether you are a mother, a career woman, both or neither, we face a challenge I don’t think any other generation has faced. That is why women are my passion, that is who I long to encourage and inspire. That being said many of my readers are men and I pray that I am able to encourage and inspire them as well. But my heart is for woman. It is my prayer that somehow God would use my life to speak to women and young girls today about how we can live a life fully devoted to him.

 7. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Sam: I would go to Europe! I recently was able to go to Italy, Ireland, England, and France.
Jess: I'd love to go to Australia some day and scuba dive the Great Barrier reef. Along with going everywhere else in the world!
Wanda: I would love to go to France some day.
Tami: I am a tropical beach girl, if we travel for fun, that is usually where we go. But I have always wanted to see Greece and I would love to go to Africa sometime.

 8. What is your absolute favorite animal?
Sam: Dogs :) - mans best friend!
Jess: I love dolphins! At one point when I was younger, I had a dolphin themed room :)
Wanda: Dogs, I love how adorable yorkies look.
Tami: Hands down Dogs. Specifically, my amazing 100+ pound dog Hank who just passed away in August of 2013, not sure how we will ever replace him. The bigger the dog, the more I love them!

9. What can you not live without?
Sam: My faith and family.
Jess: My God! Is that too easy of an answer? I love my friends and family and couldn't imagine life without them.
Wanda: Of course God would top my list since my whole existence is dependent upon Him. Beyond God, I would definitely say my family.
Tami: I am going to stick with the oh so popular answers of God and family. But if we are guaranteed those things my next choice would be lip gloss!

10. Do you have a favorite sport to watch or play?
Sam: I enjoy watching hockey (my husband played professionally) and I LOVE to play Basketball :)
Jess: I've played tennis for many years and love being able to pick up my racket and play occasionally! I like watching my sister play soccer too.
Wanda: I’m not a sports fan but the one that makes most sense to me is basketball. I only watch sports when one of my nieces or nephews are playing.
Tami: We are a HUGE sports family. Both my boys play baseball so that is high on the list, my daughter rides horses and plays volleyball, which I have helped coach, so I love both of those. I grew up in a basketball town and then went to KU so I LOVE college basketball. My brother played football all through high school and even into college so I love professional football. And my husband was a division I college high jumper so we even watch track and field! I guess there’s not much I don’t like!
